In New York City, rich older ladies often get hot young gay men to "walk" them to events like the opera, dinner and theater. This is known in the biz as a "walker". For instance back in the day you would never see Mrs. William F. Buckley at the Met without a young hardbody by her side. Well, its seems San Franciscans might be taking up this fad and making it our own. According to an e-mail I recently recieved from one of SF's hot young thangs, the latest fashion accessory of the jet set just might be young asian women. What Edward Said might call an "Orientalist Walker". You can hear about it for yourself from uber-hottie, web-chick and all around gal about town, Natalie Zee:

"i have decided that this year's gay fashion accessory is the asian girl. i went to a men's fashion show last night (d.romero) that was in the mission in a furniture store called "DEN". i was the accessory +1 for my cute gay boyfriend - rich. rich is connected into this fashion world (lots of friends who are designers, models, photographers) and he mentioned he used to model himself. we had VIP status and got gift bags! anyway, he invited me because he used to date one of the models and he knew i loved all the fashiony world so we got to play out our sex and the city frienship like carrie and her gay friend stamford. (but he hates being called stamford cuz stamford is bald and ugly on the show).
anywhoo -- every frickin gay guy who didn't have a boyfriend had a lil asian girl as his date. even if the gay guy was asian. only the asian gay guys had girls who wore like gucci purses or had a burberry scarf. i call them the asian asian fag hags. there were also the old gay men with their older asian mature looking women. they were much more subdued, sitting on chairs, sipping their champange. the best was that even the fashion designer (grey haird good looking male in his late 40's) came on stage hand in hand with his asian lady down the runway when the show ended. i couldn't stop laughing. what was this power of gay man and asian lady?
the best part was this different kind of scoping -- gay guys would look you over from head to toe -- not for how hot you are, but to look at your outfit or your hair...and YOUR SHOES! to see if you were better dressed than his own lil asian fag hag. luckily for my friend rich, i dressed the part. i brought out my lil louis vuitton bag that my aunt in hong kong gave me years ago and i never use. i had on cute shoes and had on the perfect shade of lip gloss. so basically, i helped give him some good attention from the other gay men, as if i weresomeone's chiuwawa who's cute and they tell the owner, "my what a cute little dog you have". but as the gay men talked on about "photo shoots", the trials and ribulations of modeling, and the color "brown", i was in my own mental world, scanning the room of some of the hottest men i have ever seen in one room in MY CITY, san francisco!! and not NY, or paris, or milan - hoping that maybe just ONE of the fine guys there could possibly be straight?
ah ok i finally see someone interesting. he's dark haired, tall, well-dressed but casual looking. (no wrist bands, crazy tight t-shirt. normal clothes) reminds me of "berger" on sex and the city (office space guy). he's alone and he's staring at me. or is he looking at my clothes? or is he looking at my lip gloss? or maybe he knows i'm staring and he's going "you stupid little asian girl, I'M GAY!" i dunno. but i turned to rich's friend damian to ask what he thought. gay or straight? "honey, it's fashion. you never know." he sighed. "but i'll act EXTRA faggy so he knows you aren't with me and we can test it out." and i'm thinking first of all, damian you are the pinnacle of gay. you're occupation is that of a singing drag queen, and if for some reason you even had 1 cell in your body that was straight, nobody would ever think we were a couple!!!!
NOBODY!!!! anyway, cute berger looking man looks over still my way and a few mintues later he walked off and left the fashion show w/ the short blonde guy w/ red rimmed eye-glasses, but i know deep down, he loved me or at least my shoes."
